Decorate Wall Panels
Wall panels – Wooden panel immediately darkens a room, which can make the room look smaller. When you have panels on each wall, the dark color overwhelms the space, making the room feel like a cave. But there are some interior ideas you can use to lighten the space and tone down the heavy feel of wood. Decorate old wall panels by concealing the wood or inserting new elements.
Slip wall panels with fine slip paper and fill any holes or chips with wood kittens. Grind the dried wood filler, prime walls and paint. The new paint tones down the naturally dark color of panels. Measure the size of the walls if you rent the property and cannot paint the panels. Cut the fabric into pieces large enough to cover the walls. Tie off the list above the panels, and fasten the fabric with hammer and nail. Smooth the fabric down the walls, and attach more nails along the bottom and sides before putting back the list.
Decorate the room with the mid-century modern accessories, if you cannot cover panels. This style became popular during the glossy day wood panel. Give the room a “Mad Men” feeling with a leather armchair or sofa, brass pieces and a starburst mirror or bell hung on the wall. Cover some bookshelves with a layer of basic color and white color. Place the bookshelves against the wall panels. The white color lights up the room and the shelves take the focus of the panel. Hang colorful artwork on the walls; distance the drawing around the room. The unexpected colors function as contact points for the room. Eyes move to the artwork and stay away from panels.
